As we were driving along the road a couple nights ago, the kids, Franco and I were marveling at the beginnings of the night sky -- the sliver of a moon emerging; the dark sky above meeting the yellow/orange/red outline of the western horizon . . . and the stars. There were many stars.
We drove, commenting about the beauty of the night sky, and each of us verbalizing our observations. Jacob, particularly, was descriptive -- he excitedly proclaimed, "Hey! I saw a shooting star!" . . . followed by another, "Hey! There's another shooting star!" Before we knew it, our child with imagination galore had 'observed' at least six shooting stars within only about 2 or 3 minutes! An eventful night, for sure.
At this point I noted, "Jacob, that's a lot of shooting stars!" to which he clarified, "Yes, mama . . . but they aren't shooting bullets."
