I'll get right on that

It's only Monday, and already the week appears overwhelming. It doesn't help that I have completely lost my voice by today! While last week I still had some (albeit) squeaky voice left, as of today, it is only a whisper (IF I am lucky!).

I am already buried in my office . . . files piled everywhere . . . SCREAMING for attention. A visual of only SOME of the piles for any nonbelievers:

Oh, and then there are the 284 telephone messages to return, not to mention the 37 voice mail messages blinking at me, and the 174 e-mails . . . At least the loss of my voice is a good excuse for not returning phone calls right now . . . the other person couldn't hear me anyway!

So I look at the week's schedule, and try to think of a plan to get the necessary files out the door. Dictation to my secretaries is also an issue . . . if I can't talk, I can't dictate, and they can't help me as much . . . argh . . .

And why is everything an "emergency"? No one ever calls me to say, "hey, Amy, just thought I'd call and say 'hi' and see how you're doing." No -- it's "hey, Amy, got this problem; I did exactly the opposite of what you told me to do; AND I waited until the last minute to tell you, now making it an emergency where you need to drop EVERYTHING to help me undo the mess I've gotten myself into . . . and did I mention I did it because I deliberately did not follow your advice to begin with?" (Okay, maybe the conversations are not THAT confessing . . . but at this point many of my clients actually do start their conversations out by saying, "I know you told me not to, BUT . . . " because they know I'll tell them anyway . . . )

So, if you call this week with your 'emergency,' -- I'll get right on that . . .

Oh my word...thanks for the visual, Amy.

I will pray that much harder!

I totally believed that you were swamped, but "a picture is worth a thousand words," you know!
